In the 76th episode of Unstoppable Equestrian, I share with you the third of three things that I believe you can’t do enough of in your riding, by asking you are you leaning back enough?
By this I mean, are you purposely using your upper body and shoulders to help you improve how your horse is moving?
Most of the time we find that we are not leaning back, or sitting up as much as we think we are, and I want to challenge you this week to exaggerate the leaning back in your riding and see what affect it has on the way your horse moves and the quality of the transitions.
You don’t have to stay there, just play! If you can get someone to video you so you can see if you are too far back, or just in the right spot!
By purposely leaning back, especially in down transition, you will find that you will have a better chance of keeping your horse in front of your legs, preventing shying, dropping into the down trans and just being lazy in general!
Experiment and let me know how you go!
